    Instructions:

    1. Click on “Start” and select “Control Panel.” Double-click on “Programs and Features” (Windows Vista and Windows 7) or “Add or Remove Programs” (Windows XP).

    2. Locate the old version of Norton from the installed programs list. Note that it might be listed under the name “Norton” or “Symantec.” Select the program and click on “Uninstall.” Follow any on-screen prompts to remove the old version of Norton completely from your computer. Restart your computer.

    3. Download the Norton Removal Tool from Symantec’s website and save it to your desktop. Double-click on the executable file and click on “Next” when the dialog box pops up. Wait while the Norton Removal Tool uninstalls any remaining Norton files that can cause problems with your Norton 360 installation. Restart your computer.

    4. Connect your computer to the internet if not already connected. Note that Norton 360 requires you have an active internet connection to install and activate the product.

    5. Insert the Norton 360 installation disc into the CD-ROM on your computer (if you purchased the product from a retail location) or download and double-click on the Norton 360 installation file (if you purchased the product over the internet). Note that either method works, but that you must have a valid subscription key (obtained by purchasing the software) for the product to work.

    6. Click “Install Norton 360” from the dialog box that pops up. Click on “I Agree.” Click on “Next” and wait while the software package installs the necessary components.

    7. Click on “Sign in to an existing Norton Account” and enter your account information to access your previous Norton account. Create a new account if you do not remember your account information. Note that you must have a Norton account to install Norton 360. Click “Next” and then click “Finish” to complete the installation procedure.

    8. Activate your product by clicking on “Start” and selecting “Norton 360” from the programs list. Click on “My Account” on the main Norton 360 menu. Click on “Activate Norton 360” and input the 25-character serial key found in the Norton confirmation email (if you purchased the product over the internet) or on the sticker on the back panel of the CD sleeve (if you purchased the product from a retail location).

    9. Click on “Next” and enter your Norton account information. Click on “Finish” to compete the product activation.
